Message from the Ambassador
Welcome to the website of the Vietnamese Embassy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. We hope the information contained in this website will be useful for you, and that you will pass our web address on to your friends, colleagues and partners.
Diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Tanzania was established in 1965. After an interuption since 1984, the Embassy of Vietnam was reopened in December 2003. Apart from the United Republic of Tanzania, the Embassy also covers the the Republic of Kenya, the Federal Republic of Ethiopia, the Republic of Uganda, the Republic of Rwanda, the Republic of Mauritius and the Republic of Somalia.
As part of its mission, the Embassy designs this website to offer anyone interested in Vietnam with plenty information about the country and its relations with these East African partners. Pages cover a wide range of subjects, from Vietnamese history, culture and society to its economic development and foreign policy. Links to other useful websites can also be found.

Construction of two orphanage houses funded by Vietnam Government completes (26-03-2010)
On the occasion of 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the United Republic of Tanzania, in the cooperation with Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Tanzania, on 26th February, H.E.Mr. Nguyen Duy Thien, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the S.R. of Vietnam paid a visit to Kibaha Children Village Center partially financed by the Vietnam government. The fund of US$ 100,000 (one hundred thousand US$) was handed over to Mama Anna Mkapa, spouse of former Tanzania President Mkapa (Mama A.Mkapa now is chairperson of charity organization namely Equal Opportunities for all Trust Fund - EOTF).
