Anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day in Tanzania 2009

On the evening September 1st, 2009 the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the United Republic of Tanzania held the 64th Anniversary of the Vietnam National Day. Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Stephen Wasira, Deputy Chairman of Parliament Foreign Committee M. Zungu, other officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, representatives from Diplomatic and Consulate Missions and International Organization Offices attended the anniversary.

In the speech, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Duy Thien, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary made a review on great achievements which Vietnam has gained in the course of national defense and construction for the past 64 years. The Ambassador expressed deep thanks to the Tanzania government and people for supports during the Vietnam’s struggle for its independence. He also mentioned potential of economic, cultural and trade cooperation and investment in Vietnam, while emphasizing the desire of Vietnam to further strengthen Vietnam-Tanzania friendship and multi-faceted cooperation on the path to 45-year celebration of diplomatic ties in the beginning of 2010.

On behalf of Tanzania government, Hon. Mr. Stephen Wasira, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security delightedly extended best wishes to the Vietnam government and people on the occasion of historic event, praised Vietnam for setting a good example in its struggle for national independence and the process of national construction, economic development and poverty reduction. The Minister also expressed  lofty and admirable sentiments when he talked about the role and merit of President Ho Chi Minh who laid the foundation for the new Vietnam.

Mr. Wasira revealed impressive memories experienced during the latest visit to Vietnam several years ago. He hoped that the two countries would accelerate cooperation in all sectors, especially the agriculture, and desired to exchange experience with Vietnam in agricultural development, thus contributing to the success of “Agriculture first” initiative issued by the Tanzania government in the midst of this year in cope with impacts of the global economic and financial crisis./.
